How to Fix Credit Report Errors and Dispute Inaccuracies
Errors on your credit report can affect your credit score, interest rates, and access to financial products—but you don’t have to live with them. In this episode of Expert Insights, Daynor Carman explains how to dispute credit report inaccuracies and protect your financial health.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the right to dispute incorrect or incomplete information with both the credit bureaus and the creditors who provided the data. Since some information can stay on your credit report for 7 to 10 years, it’s important to act quickly if you spot something that doesn’t look right.
The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) also gives you access to a free copy of your credit report every year. You can request yours through annualcreditreport.com, the official site approved by the federal government.
Reviewing your report regularly is one of the best ways to stay on top of your financial health. Watch now to learn how to take action and keep your credit report accurate and up to date.
