Our Story ▪︎ Possible Finance
Why we started Possible
Our founders saw a problem and wanted to be a part of the solution
Today, millions of Americans feel that they can’t get ahead financially no matter how hard they work. They feel hopeless, undervalued, and stuck. That’s because the existing financial system is designed to keep people in debt. From predatory payday lending to overdraft fee revenue for big banks, the incentive is stacked against well-intentioned borrowers. Every time someone needs more time to pay, these lenders make money—it’s how they do business.
At Possible, we’re building a new kind of consumer finance company. One that’s structured to align incentives for both the customers and the company. We believe in creating innovative financial products that let people borrow what they need, pay it back over time and build their credit history so that they can make progress. It’s not how the other companies are doing things—and we think that’s a good thing.
Since day one, we have never charged penalty fees, like late fees and insufficient funds fees. In fact, we’ve saved customers over $650 million because we don’t do this.° Instead, it’s our mission to make financial health possible for everyone.
To put it simply:
When our customers win, we win.
Our impact
$684,921,211 million in fees saved
Yep, we did the math. That’s a combination of the many penalty fees, late fees, insufficient funds fees, and other hidden charges that line the pockets of our competitors.
How we got this number
We review fee and payday loan usage information from state regulatory agencies to calculate how much we have saved our customers in fees. The savings amount is based on the maximum fees Possible could have charged customers over the typical payday loan term, including late fees and insufficient funds fees. Your individual results may vary depending on factors like where you live.
2017
Possible founded
In the fall of 2017, our founders got together with a shared vision for accessible, affordable and benefit-driven financial services.
2019
First 120,000 Possible loans
We celebrated our first milestone with our growing team in the Seattle office.
2020
$11M Series B
In 2020, Union Square Ventures joined our mission by leading an $11M Series B. Existing major investors also participated in the round. We were able to grow our team rapidly and serve as many customers as we possibly could during the ongoing pandemic.
2022
A foundation for better finance
We became a Public Benefit Corporation, committing to balance our customers' long-term interests with our shareholders'. And our new partnership with Coastal Community Bank gave us room to design more innovative products, bringing credit access to even more people.
2023
Investing in financial literacy
We deepened our commitment to financial literacy, teaming up with LiFT, a community-focused nonprofit, to host a comprehensive credit education series. Our specialists helped people across the country understand credit scores, review their credit reports and debunk common myths.
2024
Official partner of the Orlando Magic
We took our mission courtside. Just like the Magic, we believe in creating wins for the community—on the court and off—and celebrating financial milestones right alongside the home-team kind.
2025
Growing in every direction
We expanded Possible Loan to eight new states, so more people could move forward financially. We also launched Possible Advance, giving customers a portion of their paycheck early—no credit check, interest or deposit required. And we settled into our new Seattle HQ near Pike Place Market.
2026
A profitable new chapter
We turned our first annual profit, surpassing a $130 million annualized revenue rate—proof that when our customers win, we win. And we launched Bill & Rent Reporting, a new way to build credit history with everyday payments like rent, utilities and phone bills.
